Designed by the architect Jesús Manzanares, also the architect of others such as Enate, Aalto, Pago de los Capellanes or l’Ermita, the Clos d’Agon cellar is located in the center of the vineyard
The architect was inspired by Piet Mondrian‘s work when designing the unusual bodega. The modern building blends harmoniously into the surroundings, combining architectural beauty with the high requirements of a modern wine cellar
The bodega is located amidst the vineyards in order to guarantee the fastest possible processing of the hand-picked grapes. Peter Sisseck was actively involved in functional design of the bodega. His knowledge could be applied to construct the building so that a process which is as rational as posible guarantees high-quality wine production. Thus, for example, the grapes are deposited on the upper floor, selected by hand and then fall into the noble tanks by the force of their gravity.. The existing storage rooms are individually air-conditioned in accordance with the wines’ temperature requirements in their different stages of maturity
Construction work started in 2002 and ended in 2006
